The Guild of Media Arts in partnership with University of York invites you to attend Life on the Street: Community Renewal on Tuesday, 29th March at 6.00pm.
The Guild of Media Arts is working in partnership with StreetLife, the project to reinvigorate Coney Street. We all aim to make the activities happening there this year become sustainable in the longer term.
This two hour conversation will focus on the business support, and fresh creative and social opportunities that will evolve from the StreetLife project.
Rachel Cowgill will begin by giving us an overview of where the Streetlife project has reached, and then we will base small group conversations around the many diverse situations and futures that the Street itself offers.
The Streetlife research team will be contributing materials that will support the discussion and help us visualise Coney Street as thriving and creative space. We hope the outcome will be new partnerships and agreements to explore ways to 'make more happen on Coney Street'.
We think the answer to this is partnerships between the creative community and those representing other interests in the city centre. Please join us as all of us: business owners, workers, residents, and artists discuss ways to bring new life to our riverside High Street.
Also we plan to talk about York’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts: what does that mean? You may be astonished at the exciting possibilities for you in this global landscape.
Please join us for hot beverages, cake, and to learn more about these developments.
