The Guild of Media Arts  is managed by the Court.

The Court plans and delivers the programme of work that enables the Guild to achieve its objectives.
Meetings of Guild Officers and Court Members take place every two months and are chaired by the
Master of the Guild. The other Officers of the Guild attending the Court are the Clerk and the
Treasurer. Past Masters are also eligible to serve on the Court as Members. We may sometimes
appoint a Deputy to support the Master. One place on the Court is reserved for a Guild member
currently studying at undergraduate level in York. Make It York is invited to nominate an Observer to
attend the Court. The Administrative Officer may also attend Court meetings.

The Master leads and represents the Guild. The Clerk is the administrator of the Guild. They
coordinate its work and manage communications with other organisations. The Treasurer is
responsible for management of the Guild’s finances. All Court Members contribute their expertise
and time to realise the plans of the Guild, especially through its education work, its events and
professional development activities for members, and the effective communication about the
creative sector to audiences in York, nationally and internationally. The Guild is registered as a
Community Interest Company, number 10826421.

Members of the Guild are eligible to join the Court and may do so by making an application at any
time. Appointments are made by the Court when there is a vacancy. Members may serve for two
years, after which they are eligible for re-appointment. The range of skills and experience
represented on the Court is reviewed every year. Vacancies may also be filled through co-option.
